A poll conducted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that zero percent of black voters said they had a poor experience voting in the 2022 midterm election. The poll further found that 73% of black voters said the experience was “excellent” overall. This poll was conducted after the enactment of the new voter security bill.
After the 2021 run-off election saw a massive drop in voter turnout and the dissipating confidence in Georgia elections, the Legislature knew they had to work to ensure voter integrity and increase voter confidence in the election. This new bill was effective in restoring voter confidence. The 2022 midterms saw an unprecedented increase in voter turnout. Senator Warnock even complained about the legislation accusing it of causing certain communities an extended waiting time to vote. In reality, according to the AJC poll, 75% of respondents said they waited less than 10 minutes in line to cast their ballot. No bill is perfect, but this bill is certainly not causing a decrease in voter turnout nor does it make it harder to legally cast a ballot. Georgia Republicans have praised this bill for making it easier to vote and harder to cheat.
Prominent Democrats such as President Biden and Stacey Abrams demonized the state over this bill, likening it to Jim Crow 2.0. MLB pulled their All-Star Game out of Georgia in protest of the bill. After seeing the wide success of the bill, there has yet to be a retraction from any Democrat. No one on the left is too apologetic about the loss of revenue the state of Georgia took from losing the All-Star Game. This bill was publicly lauded as racist and discriminatory. The facts stand against this claim and the left is not standing up to apologize. Stacey Abrams, President Biden, the MLB, and anyone who demonized this bill should not only apologize for the loss of revenue but also for the defamation the state received from their outcry of the bill based on lies. Their public apology should be just as loud as their public rebuttal.
